Why are We Giving Away Water Buffaloes?
3Delta Systems believes in socially responsible giving that makes a difference in people’s lives and protects the earth’s resources for future generations.
Instead of dispensing promotional trade show trinkets that often wind up in landfills, we’re using a far more sustainable giveaway at industry conventions where we’re exhibiting this year – donations in the name of prize winners toward the purchase of water buffaloes for poor families in underdeveloped countries through Heifer International.
For more than 60 years this nonprofit has been providing livestock and training in sustainable farming to millions of impoverished families in developing nations so that they can become self-reliant for their own food and income. These families also ‘pass on the gift’ by donating their animal’s offspring to another family, thereby creating a network of self-reliance. It’s a cause that helps needy families help themselves and, at the same time, protects and improves rather than depletes the environment.

Fun Facts About Water Buffaloes
- Water buffaloes provide 5% of the world’s milk
- With a water buffalo pulling a plow, a farmer can plant four times more rice or potatoes than by hand
- There are 74 breeds of domestic water buffalo numbering some 165 million animals, but only small numbers of wild water buffalo remain
- Water buffaloes graze on weeds and coarse grasses in areas that might not support other livestock
- Water buffaloes provide an abundance of manure for fuel and fertilizer
We Are a Proud Sponsor of the National Christmas Tree Railroad
Since 1994, a group of model train enthusiasts calling themselves the "National Christmas Tree Railroad" have constructed and operated a Large Scale model train display around the base of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. These non-paid volunteers spend countless hours every year to bring the joy and excitement of model trains to young and old alike. This year's display around the National Christmas Tree consists of nine train loops, three trolleys, three villages and over a 1,000 feet of track.
3Delta Systems' Chief Financial Officer, John Zampino, has been a volunteer of the National Christmas Tree Railroad ever since the display began 18 years ago, and has become the organizations driving force since 2008. In support of John's efforts, 3Delta Systems is proud to sponsor the National Christmas Tree Railroad.
The National Christmas Tree is located on the Ellipse, just south of the White House. The trains run daily from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm from December 1, 2011 through January 1, 2012. The exhibit is FREE to the public. So, come by and check out the National Christmas Tree Railroad. It is sure to get you in the holiday spirit!
